There’s nothing more traditional at Christmas than Port and Stilton. Even though the Duoro is famous for its Port production, it is easy to forget there are producers also making dry table wines. Recently we caught up with Joao Roquette Alvares Ribeiro from Quintado Vallado who is creating a new tradition of table wines at one of the most famous Quintas in the Duoro.
For almost 200 years, Quinta do Vallado’s main activity was the production of Port wines. Now Quinta do Vallado uses traditional indigenous grapes but with methods that are bang up to date and the results are dry table wines that are nothing short of sensational.
Here Joao explains the fascinating changes happening at this historic Quinta.
