One happy gorilla
Now that the dust has settled the time is right to look back at last week’s event.
Since the first votes started pilling up on March 4, 2010 @ 3:07 pm we never looked back. By the end of play, an amazing total of 2,552 unique votes were counted. We wish to thank all of you who took the time to vote. We were absolutely taken aback by your enthusiasm.
The last few days were tense with the Guerilla Wine Tasting (by Niamh & Denise) and the Royal Whittington (by Rupert Taylor) swapping first place every couple of hours. With the final whistle blown, we carefully examined the votes and counted 1,000 for Rupert and 1,096 to Niamh & Denise. What a thrilling finish!
We would like to thank all our finalists, as for us you are all real winners and to prove we really mean it, Argento have decided to offer you all a six pack of their very finest Reserve Malbec. We were especially impressed by Rupert’s campaign. By creating “Help Rupert get to Argentina!!” group on Facebook, and with the help of its 384 members Rupert crowdsourced votes that brought him close to triumph. But on the finish line it was the Gorillas who celebrated.
In case you missed the whole thing here’s a short message from a wine loving gorilla and a well deserved winner!
I’m so tired of wine being exclusive. I’m so bored of the London scene. Why can’t us Gorillas have some of the action?
I love wine and I think I understand it, so I sent a message out to fellow wine lovers.
“Join me by the river to explore and enjoy good wine.”
We had fun. We had wine. You saw what all happened…
